DanganronpaPet: The Animation is a Japanese crossover animated television series that aired on Cartoon Network in Japan. The series was licensed by Funimation and Jetix Cymru, where the dub was produced. The series premiered on Toonami Channel on July 22nd, 2017, and was aired on Cartoon Network in March 2018. On July 26th, 2017, the anime, along with Cartoon Network: GemParty, was picked up by Cartoon Network XD for US broadcast. Cartoon Network XD's rights to the anime expired on October 28th, 2017, after which SurgeAnime TOO picked up the rights. Following SurgeAnime TOO's rebrand as SurgeAnime Network, the rights were given to AuraNightfall.

In 2018, it was announced that an indirect sequel, Danganronpa Fairilu: The Animation, would premiere on Cartoon Network in Japan in April 2018.

In August 2018, a direct sequel, DanganronpaPet 2: Jewels of Despair: The Animation was ordered by Cartoon Network Japan. While it was announced that it would be the final season of DanganronpaPet: The Animation, it was later announced that it would be released as an OVA rather than a TV anime due to Lerche and Cartoon Network financially writing-off both series.

On February 17th, 2020, it was announced that both Lerche and Cartoon Network were financially writing-off both series due to financial losses incurred via production of the second series. The write-off would take effect in Japan starting February 18th, and in March 2020 for the rest of the world. Earlier, both YTV Family and AuraNightfall dropped the second series from their upcoming programming; YTV Family in particular had previously written-off Canadian broadcast rights to most Jewelpet-based series.
